A Visit From The Kids

The end of July, Dayna and Robyn brought their families up for a Sunday evening.  We ate sloppy joes at the lake...  

played a little volleyball...

played in the sandbox...

built a tower....

took a walk around the lake....

and saw a wild turkey.

Grandma told the grandkids about the cores in the trees,
 and talked about how we keep our core strong.

Elder LeFevre came and took us all on a snipe hunt.

Staining

Fall brings staining time to Heber Valley Camp.  Each year two camps are stained.  This year we are doing Esther and Rebekah.  I am on the masking and taping team.  We cover every window door and anything else that needs to be covered.  

 Every cabin is buffed  and powerwashed before we mask.  Then each cabin is borated and stained.  Monday we masked the cabins, and then we got up at zero, cold, dark-thirty to check the paper before the staining started!

Everyone who visits Heber Valley Camp is always so impressed by how well kept it is.  I have gained a huge respect for the effort it take to keep the camp looking so good.  The missionaries up here are amazing!!!

Saturday "P" Days

Because of the cabin staining project, we have been able to take a few Saturday "P" days.  This is not the norm, so, we decided to take advantage and check out some of our grandkid's activities.  

Hunter is playing football for the first time.  In his first game he caught an interception! In the second game, he caught a pass and an interception!

Remy's birthday was on August 21, and Caiya's was on Sept 1.  We took them to Toys R Us to shop.  Remy picked out a RC 4-wheeler, and Caiya picked out a cute baby doll. We also took them and their mom out for lunch!

Kendall turned 8 on Aug 27.  She received her flannel rag quilt, made by Grandma

We love spending time with our family.  It's hard to believe how big the kids are getting.  We are so proud of all of our kids and grandkids.  They are                                                                                   AWESOME!!!

Critterized

Granger lifted  the hood on the Escape yesterday to check the oil.  This is what he found.... 

 Our car  had been attacked by a critter!!!  We knew this was a possibility because it has happened to other missionaries up here.  We bought the stuff that is supposed to deter them.  Apparently it lost it's potency, because, something has been having a great time under our hood.

 We actually feel pretty fortunate.  There doesn't appear to be damage to any of the wiring.  Other missionaries have had to replace wiring to get their vehicle to run again!

We don't know what the critter was, or why it stopped when it did, but, we have replaced the smelly stuff, and are chalking it up to "mission blessings"!!!

Final Service Project

     Friday, we had our last group of volunteers.  The group was a  group of Spanish speaking Young Single Adults.  They were hard-working, and a lot of fun.  I chatted with kids from Peru, El Salvador, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Dominican Republic.

     The Elders have spent many hours in Camp Sariah, cutting up a big mess of snarled trees.  We split this group into three groups.  We had the group highest on the mountain, pulling slash and garbage wood.

For this project, Granger drove the 4 wheel drive trucks up a very narrow, steep trail.  We were happy to let him do it!

He even got in on the loading.  The kids filled 8 trucks in less then two hours!!! 

We really enjoyed these kids

This is Carol, from the Dominican Republic.  She worked for the church there.  Her boss was Henry, who Granger worked with two years ago when he was in the Dominican Republic helping with the distribution center there.
